My two favorite home tours ever!

I'm back today with two of my favorite house tours EVER! I shared the first few houses from the Indy Home-A-Rama here, but these two are the most beautiful (I thought) at the event. I loved every bit of them and I've been excited to share these pics with you.

Let's get right into it! This one was pretty from the outside -- loved the porch and the stone:

(They have removed info on the homes from the Web site.
I'm doing some checking to add credit to builders and designers.)

The living room must not have struck me because I don't have one picture of it! But the master (on the main level) was absolutely gorgeous:
floor to ceiling fireplace with tile

Can you believe that's a bedroom? It was by far the coolest master on the tour. Love the ceilings!

The master bathroom was beautiful as well -- I loved the cabinets raised off the floor (although I know in "real" life that would drive me crazy because dust would hide under there):
gray bathroom vanity with lights

I loved the counters and the lights underneath too! That's a great idea for midnight trips to the bathroom. :)

This kitchen was one of my favorites too:
dark blue island white cabinets

Love the chairs, the island, the lights!

Loved the addition of the sconces above the sink too:
sconces above kitchen sink

Isn't that pretty? The countertops aren't really marble, at least I don't think (I found this stuff when shopping for ours -- it's a crazy good lookalike that is also crazy expensive). I like them pulled up as the backsplash as well.

Here's a better shot of the island. Love the microwave in there like ours! (This is just slightly more custom though, ha!):
large island with microwave

The little detail on the upper glass doors is a nice touch as well:

The basement in this house was the COOLEST!! I did some Instagram videos of this house and when I looked back I realized I kept saying the house was "so cool" on every single video. Cause it was.

This was the tap room, because who doesn't need their own tap room:

Loved the wood accent wall and shelves:

This basement looked like a real bar. It was awesome. I'd shake up some drinks down here!:

This house had so many wonderful details. I could have spent a full hour exploring every bit of the rooms.

See? Like a real restaurant!:

Loved the other side of the bar too:

Upstairs I found this bathroom floor that I LOVED:
hexagon tiled floors

How cute would that be in a small powder room or a little girl's bathroom?

This bedroom caught my eye too -- I loved the wall treatment:
chevron wall treatment

This was one of my absolute favorite spaces...the open area upstairs was so fun, so cool. I loved the wall treatment here too:
wall trim with squares

When you turn the corner it's a multi-functional space -- lounging, homework or crafting and then the sweetest little nook:
long kid's desk for homework

On the opposite side the stairs went up to the master bedroom:
detailed stair railings

It's these little touches that make this house dreamy to me. I adore houses with unexpected twists and turns like this. It makes it so unique and feels like their are "secret" rooms. (And this house had one!)

Loved this desk area:

And this corner nook had me gushing. Look at all that storage and the windows!:

And the ceiling, wow!:

So if you turned around, there was another small nook with bookcases. You pushed one open to walk into a secret bunk room:

Here's a video we took:

How fun, right? This is the stuff dreams are made of. Literally, I have dreams about houses with little nooks like this. ;)

The deck off the kitchen was just as cool as the rest of the house:
outdoor covered deck with fireplace

It was absolutely huge and I loved that it was covered:
covered deck with lights and grill

How amazing! Everything you could need.

This mud room space on the way out was cool too:
mud room with brick floors

Love the brick pattern on the floors!

My son was in heaven when we walked out to the garage! First of all, those shutters, in a garage?  So cool. Our kiddo would be out here every day all year if we had a garage like this:
basketball in garage

Pretty incredible right? I adored this home! It was huge but felt homey and had smaller, intimate spaces that we just loved.

This one was incredible too! It had a very Fixer Upper feel to the exterior:

This area outside was so beautiful, I'll show you more in a bit:
white pergola with lights and fireplace

The family room was fairly normal -- very pretty! But the rest of the house knocked my socks off:
planked wall above stone fireplace

THIS is the room you walk into from the front door, and the family room is behind it:
double ring round chandeliers over table

Gorgeous!! The placement of the eating area (there isn't a table in the kitchen, just a bar) was both stunning and a little different. It was SO pretty when you walked in the door, but there was a space off the kitchen where I would have placed the table instead.

But come on...those light!! That table, the chairs -- it was all so incredible:
double chandeliers over table

This the view through the opening in that photo above as you walk into the kitchen:
kitchen with breakfast bar

That's the breakfast bar there. It had four chairs I believe.

This kitchen was also a stunner, even with fairly simple finishes and decor:
white tile light gray cabinets

Gorgeous! These pendant lights were just awesome.

Here's a look back the other way towards the dining area:
built in bookcases in kitchen

I still can't get over those dining lights.

This room was right next to the kitchen and this photo does not do it justice. It was such a gorgeous space:
living space with wood chandelier

I think this is where I'd put those amazing lights and table, instead of right when you walk in. I think the proximity works better but seriously, it's all so well done. This was one of my favorite houses I've ever walked through.

Here's a view of that outdoor area when you walked out of the kitchen:
white pergola with fireplace and lights

That's my Bub's head in the chair. He rested there for a bit while I ogled the kitchen some more. :)

Here's that breakfast bar again:

Again, there were some lovely details in this home. I loved that they added shelving to these walls in the kitchen:
vertical shiplap on walls

I also thought the planking (or shiplap) installed vertically was a nice touch.

So I saw a peek of the upstairs when we walked in and couldn't wait to see what this room was about:
shiplap with sconces

It did not disappoint! Oh my goodness...just look at this!:
interior windows

They had this set up as an art studio. I loved the ceiling, the windows (felt like a treehouse!) and the brick wall:
brick wall and wood beams

The room itself was crazy gorgeous but I think my favorite part of it was the entry to it. So many cool details.

There was a super cute bunk room in this house too:
white bunk room

Complete with a gaming area:

I would sleep in here!:

Aren't those lights cool?

On the way out I got this picture of the laundry room too -- I just love mud rooms and laundry rooms:
dark hexagon tiled floor in laundry

I mentioned some of the trends I noticed in my last post and these reminded me of another one -- I think nearly every house had laminate counters in their laundry or mud rooms. Laminate comes in so many fun options now, they all looked great. I just loved that these million dollar houses had laminate at least somewhere. ;)

Aren't these the coolest houses? Goodness, I was in love. I hope the people who buy them let me come over and hang out sometime. I would be their best friend. What was your favorite room in these homes? I have a few final houses I'll share in the next week or so!

Let's walk through some gorgeous houses!

Last weekend my boy and I attended one of my FAVORITE events here locally, our Indy Home-A-Rama. This is something I look forward to every year, and believe it or not, our son loves it too. That is, until we get to about the fourth house…then he's done. ;)

He was a trooper this year because there were 11 houses! I think that's the largest we've had by far. I can't remember more than maybe six or seven in the past. If you are near Indianapolis this one is so worth checking out! (This time it's located in Westfield.)

I always love to share the highlights of each home with you here and because there were so many I'm going to break this up into a few posts. All of the homes were beautiful, but some I loved more than others, of course.

I did my best to keep each house straight -- I took a ton of pictures! I will share these in order of the tour, and the first house had windows I was drooling over:
Indy Homearama house one
Builder: Wedgewood Building Company
Designer: Thomas and Jayne Interior Design

They were absolutely STUNNING. I'm obsessed with black mullions and if we ever build again someday, I. want. These were floor to ceiling and really amazing:
modern tall black windows

Of course you'd live in a fish bowl and they'd be crazy expensive to cover, but if you live in this house you have the money. ;)

I loved the main living space -- those windows make the whole room, right?:

The ceiling was angled up with wood beams:

The stone wall was awesome -- not something I would pick but it was really cool:

Here's a look at my beloved windows from outside:
floor to ceiling windows

The kitchen was beautiful, of course, but a little smaller than I expected:

This room was right next to the kitchen and I would have used some of that space for the kitchen:
indoor outdoor room with large sliding doors

I LOVED it though -- what a fun hang out space. The doors to the patio open up completely so it's really a great indoor/outdoor space. I love the wood wall and shelves and that awesome built in for glasses (I see a tap in there too!).

The pantry was a good size and the finishes crazy good. Wood shelves, granite, glass cabinet doors and shiplap walls, in a pantry? Dreamy:

I liked that there was a little butler's pantry-type area around the corner from the kitchen. It wrapped around over by the pantry and would be a great spot for a coffee or animal food station:

The windows sold me on that house -- I just loved them. I must have forgotten to take a photo of the outside of that one but it was beautiful exterior.

The second house had a "Fixer Upper" feel on the exterior:
modern farmhouse exterior
Builder: Old Town Design Group
Designer: Everything Home

I loved the modern farmhouse feel! Those window boxes were huge and beautiful:
large window boxes

I was surprised by the fireplace in the living area -- it was more modern than I was expecting:
skinny fireplace with tile

Most of the house had an elegant rustic vibe, but the skinny fireplace felt more modern to me.

The eat in kitchen area was beautiful:

There were definite trends I noticed throughout all of the homes -- I think I only saw one dedicated dining room. They may be a thing of the past! And there were no separate living and family rooms -- only one large gathering room off the kitchen (and additional space in the basements). These are both trends I would incorporate into a home if I ever did it again!

This house also had a room off of the kitchen that opened to a patio:
outdoor fireplace and TV combo

I really like those slatted walls for privacy.

This is the hearth room that opened to the patio -- so cozy!:
interior windows in house

Another trend I loved -- interior windows. I've actually considered adding a couple in our house over the years so I was happy to see that I'm not crazy thinking that. ;) They really did allow for natural light to spread throughout the house.

The kitchen had a darker island and light cabinets:

I liked this separate built in area for coffee or whatever:

That dark shiplap with the dark shelving is so striking.

The master had gorgeous wood beams and high ceilings:

Did I say it was four houses in that the Bub was done? I meant the second house in:

Ha! Luckily there were some fun kid's spaces coming up. (I'll show you that house next week!)

This little office space on the way to the garage was a cool spot:
small office space and mud room

You can see those interior windows again -- I just love that.

The third house had a full brick front:

I was surprised at the inside -- this one was more modern:
modern fireplace with large tile

The basement continued the sleek design:
modern basement kitchen and table area

The TV side was more cozy and I thought the stone wall behind the TV was really cool:

The basements all killed me -- they all felt like the entire size of our whole house! And the finishes were so high end -- look at that waterfall counter!:
modern basement kitchenette

I thought the bedroom in this house was beautiful -- look at that detailed ceiling!:
hexagon ceiling treatment in bedroom

And I LOVED the bathroom!:
hexagon tile in bathroom

I loved the vanity design, the hexagon tile that tied into the bathroom ceiling and that beautiful sparkly tile in the shower! (Those were small hexagons as well.)

The stairway was just lovely -- I thought this was such a beautiful idea for those big staircase walls so many of houses have now:
painted art wall on staircase

It looked like it was painted on but it could be wallpaper. Love!

My favorite room in this house was the kitchen. Oh my, it was gorgeous and unique!:
Oven area with wood tone and modern vent hood

Isn't that hood and stove area amazing? I just thought it was awesome. It was more modern than my style but man, I can so appreciate it. The backsplash was a mirror with an antiqued/smoked look and it worked so well in here:
two tone surround around cooktop

I wished that the island was the same beautiful wood tone as that cooktop surround:
white cabinets with glass and lights inside

But, WOW. Stunning, right? I loved it!

Finally, this house had an awesome mud room on the way out with tons of storage:
gray mudroom built ins

Whew! That's enough for today! Like I said -- if you are near Indy this one really is a must-see. Of course I am barely scratching the surface of these spaces. ALL of the designs were stunning. I'll be back to share some more favorites next week!

Where there any rooms you really loved? Any trends you've noticed in newer homes as well? Have a great weekend my friends!

P.S. You can see my round ups of the beautiful 2014 tours here and here!
