My new window nook / reading corner!

We've got a window nook in our open plan sitting / dining room area and it's been home to everything from a drinks trolley, gallery wall and even our Christmas tree! But in the back of my mind I've always thought what a beautiful spot it would make for a daybed. Not only does this corner of our home get the most beautiful light, it's also really peaceful looking out over the garden and up at the moon at night.  And guess what?! I've finally got around to creating it thanks to a little help from Danish brand Nordal and their lovely wall lamp and cushions in grey, dusty rose and a soft cream throw as well as a few other bits and bobs (see below for more details!). It's turned out soooo cosy and already become the most popular spot in the house!

What do you think?

Although it's super sweet seeing a little row of children's feet sticking out from under a blanket while they giggle over something on the ipad... but just one evening this week, just one!...I'd love to light that oil lamp, pour myself a large glass of something and read a book in this very spot!

Get the look:

1. Wall lamp 2. Floor cushion dark grey 3. Rug 4. Cushion cover purple grey 5. Cushion cover with circle print 6. Cushion cover dusty rose 7. Round serving platter 8. Oil lamp 9. Cotton shawl off white/beige

The open book is the first sneak peek inside my very own The Scandinavian Home (which launches in three weeks - exciting!). And I found the mobile here.

Give me a shout in the comment section below if you're wondering about any of the other items you see!

Have a lovely day!

PS Oh and a big Happy Birthday to stylist extraordinaire Gen! - I love working with you :)

A visit from a Swedish Ninja

A couple of weeks ago a talented friend of mine - Maria Gustavsson the founder of Swedish Ninja dropped by for a fika. Maria's little boy and my daughter used to be in the same class at school before they moved to Denmark last Autumn (sniff sniff). Maria's so much fun and when it comes to design, it doesn't surprise me that the Swedish Ninja way is to 'create gorgeous, kick-ass designs...with a whole lot of passion and a big sense of humour' - love that! Swedish Ninja designs include the famous Little Darling table lamp (which made big waves when it launched last year), the new Big Darling floor lamp (doubling up as a dimmable light and clothes stand) and the Zick Zack table designed by Olga Bielawska - out at the end of the month. Here are a few of the designs in my own home - I love them soooo much - oh how great it is to have talented friends!

Gift guide: for friends who love a beautiful, warm atmosphere

This year I promised myself to do my Christmas shopping early. Admittedly I say this every year.....(how about you?)! But this year I actually already have a few presents wrapped (for me that's super early, in fact my man would say it's verging on worrying). The reason? Ingredients LDN. For those of you not familiar with the lifestyle concept store, it's a gold mine for beautifully simple items which 'make the ordinary extraordinary'. Think ceramics, candles, soft linens and scents. What more could a girl (or guy) ask for?! Here are some of the gifts I love:

Picture 1: Delight pot, cloud cup, simple ceramic jug, tallow candle.
Picture 2: Hand loomed cotton blanket
Picture 3: natural chocolate body scrub
Picture 4: Nomad balancing perfume
Picture 5: Pure linen napkins, simple ceramic jug in white
Picture 6: Octopus candle

Oh so lovely. It's definitely a 'one for you, one for me' type of Christmas shopping situation....(please tell me you do that too?!).

Is there anything here you'd love to receive?

Have a great evening!

Relaxed kitchen inspiration from Sweden (and a little shopping....)

The first thing that any of my friends in Copenhagen do when they come over the bridge to Malmö is visit the store Granit - right Valentina Fussell?! The Granit thing is beautifully 'simple' items which make life at home more organised - and well, nicer! I've been adding a few of their fab AW 2016 inspiration images to my moodboards this Autumn and it dawned on me that maybe you guys might like to see them too -  after all there's quite a lot of ideas to steal for your own home, even if they don't ship to your corner of your world (and mini pizza inspiration is always welcome, right?!).

Source: Granit

See what I mean?!

I've got my eye on those bamboo lights! How about you?

If they don't ship to your country, you'll just have to pay a visit in person (see my Malmö city guide here!) - and join me for a coffee (of course!)!

Oh and there's that blue kitchen again (also seen in this home tour and the wonderful home of a Swedish food blogger - beautiful!).

Have a lovely day!

PS My lovely, talented friend Maria is offering 15% discount on all items in her shop - Swedish Ninja (including her fab 'Darling Light' collection until the end of October. To redeem enter the code 15RABATTSCANDI at checkout (ships to Europe). I've got my eye on this one for my hallway....

PPS Thank you so much to Luxury London for including me in your top four interior bloggers!  I see I'm in amazing company, check out the list here.
