A Norwegian home at Christmas

Those of you who have followed my blog for a while (thank you, you're lovely!) know I'm a big fan of the work of Norwegian based photographer and stylist Elisabeth Heier and her beautiful home which I've previously shown snippets of  here and here. It comes as no surprise that her Christmas decorating is equally as lovely and follows her simple, pared-back and elegant take on Scandinavian interior decorating. Here are a few festive snaps of her home this year.

Photography / styling: Elisabeth Heier

True modern Scandinavian Christmas decorating inspiration. A pared-back tree, white Helabores, paper stars strung up in the window which will light up at night, a simple wreath hung on the wall and fir tree branches in clear glass jars.

In case you're wondering where some of the items are from, I also spy the By Lassen Kubus 4 candleholder, RAR rocking chair (currently 10% off here), Knoll diamond chair and the classic Swedish Skultuna tea light holders in brass. Children's room: half-moon bedding, rabbit light.

For a slightly different look, here are some more inspiration images shot and styled by Elisabeth in her home for Norwegian magazine RUM 123 with a black, gold and Pantone's colour for 2015 - Marsala colour theme.

The gold flag garland, mirror stars and Christmas cone in black are from Tine K Home.

I absolutely love the idea of filling a glass jar or vase with old burnt out white candle stubs, so simple yet so lovely and a great use of waste.

Is there anything that stands out to you in these images? Which look do you prefer?

Have a lovely day!

PS I also love Norwegian blogger Nina of Stylizimo's Christmas decorating. So pretty!

One beautiful home, two different tours

A few weeks back I showed the magnificent home of Swedish stylist Marie Olsson Nylander captured by estate agents Valvet. And then I came across a second set of photographs of the same home over at  Desire to Inspire captured by Sara Svenningrud. Marie's unique sense of style shines through in both and yet the photographers have managed to capture the home in different ways. Both capture the romantic yet striking uniqueness of the family home in Höganäs, Skåne, and yet the angles and lighting is very different. Personally I'm hoping to find yet more images of this lovely home as I simply can't get enough of it, how about you?!

I'm not sure how Marie can bear to part with this home (it's currently for sale - hurry!). But I'm sure her next home will be equally as unique and beautiful.

A small guide to a few items: This Cassis Rose linen bedding is extremely similar to the one on Marie's bed, Try dark Farrow & Ball paint colours for similar wall effects. The lamp above the sitting room area is the Koushi by Mark Eden Schooley. Source industrial vintage lighting on Etsy.

For other homes with a lovely unique feel I'm loving the home of Malin Persson which I showed last Friday (especially the children's bedroom!), this home teeming with flee market finds  and this rustic / boho Norwegian space.

By the way, if you're looking at picking up a designer bargain for your home this Christmas don't miss the wonderful offers from Design Collectors - with up to 15% off items such as the LCW chair and Butterfly stool until 31st December!

Have a lovely day!

The unique and fabulous home of a Swedish stylist

Hello! I hope you're having a great start to the week?! Mine just got a whole lot better after discovering the home of Swedish stylist Marie Olsson Nylander and her family which is currently for sale (I know, hurry!). Situated in Höganäs, a small town in Skåne, Sweden not far from where my parents-in-law live, Marie's home is teeming with unique finds and blends morroccan, industrial, vintage and rustic styles for an entirely unique look. This isn't the first time I've admired Marie's work, her previous home in Arild is one of the most popular homes ever to be featured on my sandinavian home. Enjoy the tour....

What a fabulous home, don't you think?! I love the dark grey and gold combination. Is there anything that stands out to you?

Höganäs really is a great town. Whenever I am up visiting my parents-in-law I always take the time to pop into Magasin 36 for brunch and a shop. I can highly recommend a visit.

Before I shoot off, two things. First, I'm so excited to introduce a new sponsor today. Philadelphia based jewelers Bario Neal creates stunning jewelry using reclaimed precious metals including Fairmined gold, ethically sourced stones and low-impact environmentally conscious practices. I'd be delighted to receive any one of their beautiful pieces for Christmas (please let my husband read today's post....). I'm particularly in love with their collection of bands and bracelets. And those engagement rings....sigh.

Thanks to everyone for entering the Daniel Wellington give-away at the weekend. The winner will be notified today, All is not lost if your name doesn't come up - you can receive 15% off ant timepiece using the code myscandinavianhome (valid until 31st December). Perfect!

Have a lovely day!

The home of Swedish stylist Pella Hedeby

Hello, and happy thanks giving to everyone in America! Here in Sweden it's a normal Friday - but hey, that means it's the weekend so I'm happy! Since I'm in a festive mood I'll be publishing two posts today: a home tour and then later, some fab Scandinavian Christmas inspiration. First, the wonderful home of Swedish stylist Pella Hedeby which is up for sale. Pella's graphical signtaure style shines through in every room. I also love the light grey marble, white floors and the cosy bedroom. I'm sure Pella's very sad to be leaving such a great space, but personally, I'm so excited to see what she does in her next home, aren't you?!

Home: Pella Hedeby. Fastighetsbyrån

I love the thin shelving in the bedroom, what a great way to display favourite prints.

A couple of items I know and love: I have the same chunky moss knit throw in my bedroom. I also have a smaller version of the 'Je t'aime beaucoup' print by Therese Sennerholt (she also sells this fabulous fashion photography print). I'm a big fan of the Koushi Lampshade by Mark Eden Schooley which Pella has in her sitting room.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

If you like Pella's apartment you'll love some of the Swedish homes she has styled including this one, this one. and this one.

See you a little later for some Scandinavian Christmas inspiration. And don't forget to pop back tomorrow for a very exciting Advent give-away! It's all go on my scandinavian home this weekend!

One Swedish apartment, two different ways of doing grey

Swedish estate agents Fastighetsbyrån took one apartment and asked three talented Swedish stylists to decorate it (cue: blog frenzy!). The results are incredible and give real insight into how to transform a home. My favourite two are by Tina Hellberg and Hans Blomquist who took the colour of the moment: grey, and made the apartment their own. Which look do you prefer?!

Hans Blomquist:

Tina Hellberg:

All photos: Fastighetsbyrån

So fascinating don't you think? Hans has gone all out charcoal grey for a 'cocoon' like feel, where as Tina has kept the space white with grey accent colours. I love the striking nature of Hans' styling but perhaps find Tina's more livable in as I like a lot of light.

Which would you go for?

As mentioned, there's a third look too, created by Mikael Beckman. Mikael went for whites, greens and brass. You can see the final look here.

New sponsor alert and so very excited about this one. Please provide a warm welcome to new Australian online shop Room To Decorate. Founder Dianne was always receiving compliments on her own home and as a result opened Room to Decorate to provide Australians and New Zealanders with oh so cool Scandinavian inspired home-ware (my favourits include this light, cushion and cup and saucer), We like! You can also find Room To Decorate on Facebook, TwitterPinterest and blog. Thank you for supporting my wonderful sponsors who make this blog happen!

Have a lovely day!

PS Thank you so much for entering the weekend give-away. The competition is now closed and I will contact the winner today via e-mail. Look out for the next one in two weeks time!
