A fresh and light-filled Swedish pad

Hej hej! How was your weekend?! We had a lovely, relaxing time at the summer cottage - except for an hour or two following a burst pipe. I did learn a few new Swedish expletives from my ordinarily calm husband though so all was not lost!  It made sitting by the fire in the evening all the more rewarding too! Back home again and my thoughts are turning to the first flushes of spring - and a shiny new month - APRIL! Hurrah! This definitely calls for a beautiful, fresh, light-filled don't you think? This lovely pad in Gothenburg, Sweden is currently for sale through Stadshem. I love the contrast of traditional wood paneling and wallpaper in the kitchen with the clean, organised feel of the sitting room - and of course the serene looking bedroom.....

Traditional grandeur meets contemporary in a Swedish space

My jaw-dropped when I stumbled upon this Swedish apartment. The space is simply incredible.  Vintage wallpaper from times gone by, wooden wainscoting, parquet floor and period features serve as a striking back drop for contemporary furniture in the sitting room and dining room. The bedroom and office have been given a modern lease of life in light grey and white, bringing the space bang up to date. Could you imagine living somewhere like this?!

How lovely?!

It reminds me of a house I was looking at this morning which is being auctioned in Malmö next week. The property is incredible but the difference is, it's in major need of renovation. The question is - would you take on a project like this? I just don't know if it's for me or not! It's definitely temptin!

A couple of items I love from this home - söderhamn sofa, white silk chandelier, round vase and bentwood chair.

The snow's slowly melting away in the rain today - please don't go!  I'm dreaming of breakfast in this spot to raise my spirits- how wonderful? And just how beautiful is this vintage boucherouite rug

Have a wonderful day!

PS loved reading your comments on pianos and musical instruments at home yesterday!

A lovely mix of modern and vintage in a Swedish home

Hello Monday! Today's another crazy day here. The girls and I have been in London for the weekend to celebrate my Mum's birthday - which we spent at Petersham Nurseries (I think I need a bigger garden...!)- and now we're heading back to Sweden (and me, onwards and upwards to Norway to shoot for my second book! Exciting!). But thankfully I've found a beautiful, calm home to help ease us all into the working week - snapshots from Johanna Bradford's apartment which was recently for sale (do you remember this feature?).  There's something a little nostalgic about Johanna's home (and many of her talented associates including Kristin Lagerkvist, Emma Von Brömmsen and Sofia Jansson) - it must be the lovely wallpaper? Either way Johanna's relaxed home is a perfect mix of modern and vintage so personal.  Let's take a tour....

Oh so lovely, don't you think?

I particularly love the hallway. In fact - I love everything about this home. How about you?

Get the look: The kitchen has been painted in light grey no.17 by Farrow & Ball. Row of hooks, Marshall speakers, wine glass rack, willow wallpaper, source a similar beautiful boucherouite rug, macrame wall hanging, Le Grand Air sofa, Gubi coffee table, Private rug.

Right, better get a move on! Wish me luck!

Have a great start to the week!

PS - have you entered the give-away yet? I don't think you'll want to miss out!
