How to make a DIY wrapping paper station (for cheap!)

Hey there! We've had a busy week soaking up some summer activities…our time off is coming to a close soon. This week alone we visited the Indy Children's Museum, explored downtown, saw a movie and took a trip to Kings Island. Such a blast but I'm ready to relax a bit today! (If you are interested in visiting our fun city, check out this post and this one for my tips and our favorite places.)

I'm back today with a quick and easy project that I finished up in the loft last week. I'm pretty excited about it! Last time I shared this space I had this empty space above the window seat
window seat with pillows

I've known all along exactly what I wanted to put there -- a gift wrap station. :) I'm all about form and function and I knew this would be cute and serve a purpose in this space.

I hardly spent anything on this because I used old trim from this room for the frame. You can definitely put this directly on the wall but I wanted to make a little bit more of a statement and I had the trim anyway.

I had plenty of wall space but didn't want it to go too low -- that corner is already my favorite spot on the window seat and I didn't want to worry about hitting my head. :) Turns out you can fit quite a few rolls in a small space. I ended up with 24 inches tall by about 34 wide:

Most gift wrap is 30 inches wide but Christmas wrapping is sometimes wider so that will just depend on your needs.

I nailed the trim directly on the planks and then cleaned it up -- putty for the corners and holes and a couple coats of semi gloss paint:

The next part was super easy. I picked up some dowel rods in the 3/8 size (again, any size will do, just make sure they don't bow with the weight of the paper):

And a couple packages of gold cup hooks

Make sure your rods will fit in the hooks! Mine were 7/8 inches so it worked perfect.

I did some trial and error to decide on the layout -- I knew I wanted six up there so I measured out every 3.5 inches. I held my measuring tape up and marked those distances down the length of the trim, making sure each one was in the middle:

Make sure you do the exact same measurements on the other side. Then you've got yourself a super cute display that functions great as well:

OH I just love it!! So cute! Of course I got it up and decided I needed a few new rolls of paper to make it even cuter. :) I couldn't resist.

I love the pops of color against the white wall. I'm starting to love how everything kind of "sings" against white. I don't think all white would ever happen in our house but I can tell I'm going to like it in this space:

To access the paper I can either pull the wrapping out from the wall and cut it where it is, or it's easy to take them down. I will probably just take them down when I need them.

All in all this was only a $10 project since I had the trim, and as I mentioned, that's optional anyway.

Not gonna lie, I'm already thinking about how cute it will look with Christmas paper! :)

There you go -- a simple, inexpensive project that you can adjust to your needs. I absolutely love mine and am happy I was able to put that space to use.

Have a great weekend my friends! :)

Spring clean with a FREE Mrs. Meyer's set (in their beautiful spring scents!)

Hello my friends! I'm SO very excited about this gift for you all and the weather lately -- even if it's been a little rainy around here, SPRING HAS ARRIVED. I was driving today and found myself smiling because the trees are starting to turn shades of green, white and pink here in Indiana. Spring and fall are the most beautiful seasons in the Midwest.

For me, the warmer temps make me want to throw open all of the windows and clean the house from top to bottom. I really think I keep our house cleaner this time of year -- I just feel like keeping the house fresh and organized more than any other season.

If you're feeling the same I'm excited to share this gift with you. Because...Mrs. Meyer's products. We all love them, right? They can be hard to find, especially the most sought after scents. I'm not sure anything screams spring more than these:
Where to find hard to find Mrs. Meyers scents and products

Grove Collaborative doesn't just sell Meyer's products. They sell a ton of natural items for cleaning, personal care and the home. Here are some of my recent favorites:

Essential Oils
I use and love oils anyway but the Grove prices are amazing. I have purchased eucalyptus (great for stuffy noses), lavender (wonderful to diffuse while sleeping) and grapefruit from them so far. The grapefruit and lavender smell absolutely lovely together:
Essential oils for diffusing for less
Natural Soy Candle
Their vanilla and sandalwood candle is AMAZING. It fills our whole main level with the soft scent. I love that it's soy and it's just plain cute:

Full Circle Mini Brush Set
I've purchased a few cleaning brushes from Grove but this is one of my favorites. It's adorable, I KNOW. But it's perfect for getting small messes off the kitchen surfaces (and not on the floor). I also use it to wipe everything right off the counter into the sink:
Mini broom and tray set

Bubble Up Dish Brush
This is another one I love because it just looks so good (love the wood handle) and works so well. I love it for our bacon griddle we use in the oven. It scrubs all of that yumminess off and stays clean and stink-free afterwards:

Squeeze Cellulose Sponge Clothes
I'm now obsessed with these and use them everyday. These are on my reorder list for sure. We use half the paper towels with these around. You just get them wet and they clean up great -- you can scrub with them too:
Sponge clothes instead of paper towels for cleaning

Mrs. Meyer's Cream Cleaner
OK this is the BOMB. Do you have a black cooktop that you can't get super clean? I'd clean and wind up with smudges every time. It drove me crazy. I even looked online for a solution and nothing worked. Until this. 😍😍Look how shiny! It works:
The BEST product for cleaning cooktops

Mrs. Meyer's Multi-Surface Spray
I've used this stuff forever now. It works on anything. If I have a tough spot I'll spray it, walk away for a few minutes and then when I come back it wipes away. Love it and the scent...you can't beat it. Your whole house will smell like spring:

I prefer the cleaning supplies but as I mentioned, they have tons of personal care items as well. I have their hand lotion and it is lovely. If you participate in the free gift, you'll get a free VIP trial. VIPs never pay for shipping and get free products five times a year.

This is what I LOVE about Grove:

1. Natural products at a great price. Simple as that. Over the past few years I've gone to more natural cleaning products and we all know they can be more expensive. It's hard to beat their prices.

2. They make everything SO easy.
  • Your favorites will come on a regular schedule.
  • Your personal Grove "guide" is assigned to you will offer suggestions or you can pick what you want. They email to check in before anything is sent.
  • It's super easy to cancel any shipment, just email them back to let them know.
  • You can even text your guide! Tell them you want to add or delete something your order and they can give advice about the products. I LOVE this.
3. The packaging. One thing that drives me BATTY about most shipments is the crazy amount of space wasted. Either the box is entirely too big or they ship one thing at a time instead of combining. My items came packed super tight (and thoughtfully) and there was no wasted space. They also secure all cleaning supplies with tape so there are no spills in transit.

4. It's easy to opt out. You can choose not to receive any items at any given month and you can cancel anytime. AND it's easy to do so. Just email them.

5. They offer a price match for VIPs. If you see any of the items cheaper (I doubt you will), they'll refund the difference!

If you are interested, click the image below and they'll ask you a few quick questions to help tailor your order. Your cart will auto-fill with $20 worth of products but you can change them out to whatever you desire! And you'll get your free Mrs. Meyer's products in the process. This offer is only good till April 3rd!

Spring Mrs. Meyer's scents

I love this company and their products and am excited to share it with you. Have you used Grove yet? What Mrs. Meyer's scent is your favorite? I have always been a sucker for peony (it's so hard to find too), but I think lilac has taken over. :)

As of now Grove does not ship to Canada, Alaska or Hawaii.

Ten free Disney art printables

Hey there and welcome to another weekend! I'm back with a fun little round up that was inspired by my last post about our Disney art wall in the loft. We are in the midst of planning our next trip to WDW and it's definitely on the brain lately. I can't wait to get back!

I LOVE printables and love adding them around our home, especially at fall and the holidays. I thought for sure I'd find a bunch of free Disney versions as well, but they are really hard to find! When you search "free Disney printable" you'll find mostly coloring pages. Those are great, but not what I was looking for. :)

So when I did find some I decided to gather them to share with you. If you are Disney fans like us you may have a fun spot for them in your home. (Link to each one is below the image.)

I love this "word cloud" idea in the shape of a Mickey head:

They link to a site where you can make your own version as well!

This one is really an autograph page, which is a cute idea. But I love it just as framed art:

This isn't really one you would leave on the wall all year, but I had to include it in this round up:
Free Disney countdown printable

You know, now that I think about it, if you are regular Disney goers you could leave it up all year. )

Of course I had to include some Cinderella printables. Did you see that movie last year? I thought it was beautifully done.

This one is so pretty:

I think this option would look cute anywhere in the house and it's a good reminder:

Love the farmhouse vibe. :)

This version is a little more modern but I love it:

Have Courage script printable/MantraBand

How fun is this? You can print and cut out your own bookmark (one of these has a Walt Disney quote):
Printable feather bookmarks

They suggest printing them out on wildflower paper which I think is brilliant! I searched and found this printable seeded paper that would be perfect for this project. What a lovely gift idea, it has my wheels turning. I'd kind of hate to bury something so cute though.

This is another with a more modern look -- they have the castle and the Epcot ball available:

You know I can't share Disney printables without including a Frozen version. :) I thought this one was sweet and they offer it in pink too:

And finally, if you like to create your own printables (go here for my tutorial), then you can download these Disney fonts to use: Free Disney fonts

How fun! The possibilities are endless. I just love these -- they are so easy to add as art around your home and the price can't be beat!

I'll be back next Tuesday with the monthly before and after party and then I'll be back with the loft/craft room reveal! See you then!

Our fun Disney art wall

Hello there! I've been working like crazy to finish up the loft space and I'll be sharing the completed room with you next week! I am SO HAPPY with how it's come together. I'm writing you from the room right now and have been in here nearly all day every day (because I love it so much and because I'm trying to finish it up). ;)

One little space that I finished up (well, started really) was the small Disney wall near the stairs. I knew when I made our Disney pin art months ago that I wanted to hang it in the room:

This little wall near our book nook was the one I planned to put the art on:
adding shiplap look to walls

I wanted to frame out the pin art somehow before I hung it but ended up just repurposing a small chalkboard we used to have hanging in another part of the loft. I had an idea to use it again so first I hung it:
chalkboard with barnwood

And then I just nailed the pin art on top. :) I'll show you more of that in a minute.

Then it was time to add some art. This wall will get a few more frames added to it over time (over time means when I take my next trip to IKEA, ha!) but we got a good start.

I searched Etsy for Disney art and found a few printables I loved. They were inexpensive and I was able to download them immediately -- so easy! I printed them out at home so it took me mere minutes for each one. I link to each one below the photos if you are interested in the shops.

I loved this bright and colorful rendition of the castle:

This version of Mickey made us smile from ear to ear:

Isn't he the cutest??

I needed a landscape print for the final frame so I downloaded this Peter Pan art:
printable Disney Peter Pan art

Goodness, I just love them. Each one is so bright and pretty.

Again, the wall isn't much now, but it makes me so happy when I walk by it. I plan to add at least four more smaller frames next to the pin art:
Disney pin art

I think I'm going to add to the bottom as well. It's a small wall but in a space most guests don't see so I may just fill it up so we can enjoy it. We have some fun photos from our trips I'd like to add here as well. (And yes, I still need to patch that small drywall spot.)

You can see here how I just nailed the pin art to the top of the chalkboard frame. :) That art is seriously one of my favorite pieces I've ever made. I love how the wood and black mimics the look of the giant chalkboard on the other side of the room too.

Even though it's not complete we love it -- and it's come a long way since I added all the farmhouse door trim earlier this summer:

I can't believe how much this room has changed in just three months! That's fast for me as some of you know. ;)

Now it's a bright and fun spot that will be a great addition to this space!:
Disney art wall

Love it and love the backdrop of the white planked wall! And even with the cost of the frames so far it's only cost me about $20.
